Lynda and her husband - The Dotys Here are the Doty's in their living room church. They had a little church on the main street of Winnsboro, when one day a powerful wind storm blew the entire roof off! It went crashing across Main Street, breaking a plate glass window of an auto parts store across the street. So here they are, back in their home again.
Here is Joseph! - Lynda's Handsome Son Joseph is a self-taught musician, and can play just about any instrument. When small, he used to go around to all of those who knew how to play the piano and ask to be taught. When the lessons were not forthcoming, he would go off by himself with the piano and spend hours in practice. He got his start playing for the Hmong refugee church. In addition to music, Joseph knows his computers. An IT specialist, he can also build computers from scratch. He is his mom's #1 Troubleshooter!
Lynda Allison Doty was born and raised in beautiful South Carolina. Every Sunday morning she could be found in Sunday School--and later, as she was able to drive and transport herself--she was in church everytime the doors were open. She was raised in a Baptist church in Columbia. Lynda knows what it is like to grow up without a dad, her own father dying when she was only seven. She left Columbia at age 17 for France, after her mother married an army man. There Lynda completed high school and studied art. (This part of her life can be read in her book, Lord Why Am I Crying?) Later she returned to the States and the South. Her life has been a full and active one. Here is a photo of Lynda at her hooding ceremony when she received her doctorate. (More to come......)
Bro. Buxton praying for Joseph through his Mom At the powerful West Coast Ladies Conference where Lynda was speaking, she met the younger Bro. Buxton who had made his way back to the Lord. Thinking if anyone knew how to pray for her son Joseph, as he makes his own way back to Jesus, she asked Bro. Buxton to pray. Powerful prayer, as you see here, resulted. The answer is on its way!
Here's John! Brand new Graduate! - Juli stand proudly with her son Well, this is Juli's second graduate! Willie was first, now John. Next will be Kenny! Caitlyn will be following close behind. Michael--well, Michael will be tagging right along in a few years.
Here's Lynda Signing the song - "HELP ME HEAL" As she was writing the book, HELP ME HEAL, God began to deal with Lynda about joining her book with the song by the same title. Her first thought was to take the song writer along with her on tour. When that didn't work out, she said to the Lord, "Surely You don't want me to SING it, Lord--You know I couldn't carry a tune with handles on it!"
The Lord must have agreed, because that is when He let her know He wanted her to "sign" the song. Sing language? "But Lord! I don't know sign language!"
But she began to learn the signs to this one song, and the next step was to do it in a public setting, in a church, at a conference. With shaking knees and hands, Lynda obeyed, and God blessed. He has blessed ever since. Wherever she takes this song, the Holy Ghost sweeps over the congregation, bringing healing.
"It's one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen," says Lynda.
Who knows--maybe she will demonstrate at YOUR conference!
Lynda and her kids and "adoped" daughter - Juli and Joseph and Carol
Lynda's daughter and family - Grandchildren! Lynda is especially thrilled with her family! Here is her daughter's family portrait--which shows Lynda's five precious grandchildren! They are the light of her life. Will, John (both in college), Kenny, Caitlyn (Bible Quizzers) and little Michael. Sometimes we ask, What are we going to do with Michael? There is only one obvious answer: Just love him!
The Dotys were living in Sacramento when God called her husband to start a home missions work all the way across the country in South Carolina. Coast to coast! But she stays close to the family in emails, phone calls, and lots of visits!
Lynda's very own sister - Irene Here is Lynda's sister and "adoped" daughter Carol, fellowshipping after church. Irene has always been a star in Lynda's life--loving and giving.
Son Joseph and Kenny - Playing Around What a Christmas, 2006! All together again! Here Joseph plays like he is strangling young Kenny. But you can tell Kenny loves every minute of it!
Joseph being awakened by niece and nephews - Wake up! How can a favorite uncle ever sleep in when he's surrounded by little ones who absolutely adore him? The answer: he can't. This is one of Lynda's favorite pix--such contentment here!
Lynda's Grandson Kenny - Kenny's Trophies Kenny worked hard this year at the Christian school! "Grandma" was beaming as she snapped this photo. (Grandson Michael looks on)
Long-lost niece gets baptized in Jesus Name - July 15, 2007 Here is Cathi getting prepared to go down in the water in the Name of Jesus. Aunt (Lynda Doty) speaks with Cathi about her receiving the Holy Ghost two weeks ago.
Lynda and Bosom Buddy, Diane - Your Friendly REALTORS Here are Lynda and Diane, your friendly Realtors. Being bosom buddies, there is none of that competetiveness between them!
Lynda and Shelia Jones Work hard on - "The Conference!" Shelia has become Lynda's "right hand wo-man" with planning the HELP ME HEAL National Ladies Healing Conferences. What a help she is--and even more important, what a friend. I couldn't do it without her!
Martha! We must not forget - our Martha! Martha is the sweetest animal you'll ever see. She's never known anything but love. Plus, she gets in a lot of prayer time each morning! She loves to sit in Lynda's place of prayer and feel the awesome presence of God. She might not understand what it is she's feeling, but she loves it and looks forward to it. If Lynda is late for 6 a.m. prayer, Martha will come and get her--wake her up if necessary, climbing on her head, over her shoulders. "Let's go pray, Mama!"
Juli and William - Daughter and Son-in-law How sweet they are! Hub William is a school teacher, 6th grade. Juli is a homeschooling mom, transcriber, seamstress, blah blah, all the things mothers do plus a whole lot more--Juli is an accomplished writer, having had work published for AWP Ministries, Pentecostal Writers Fellowship, and Focus on the Family. She has been published in other various publications over the past several years.
